Sleep Research and Neurobiology Services
SRI International performs the discovery and development services needed to get your lead candidate into the clinic. SRI's integrated program offers neuropharmacology, molecular biology, pathology, immunology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, engineering, and information technology expertise to solve problems, create value, and expedite the preclinical process.
We are studying the relationship between the hypocretin/orexin (H/O) system and sleep disorders and using differential gene expression approaches including microarrays to identify other components of the sleep/wake regulatory network. Discovering the molecular bases for sleep disorders could lead to improved treatments for insomnia, shift work/jet lag, age-related sleep disturbances, fatigue, and narcolepsy. We provide clients a number of neurobiology services, including in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology, receptor assays, and neuroanatomy. We evaluate the in vivo effects of agents in our dedicated Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Animal Facility. SRI is the preferred contractor for organic synthesis, and maintains the NIMH repository. Our comprehensive drug development capabilities, including IND preparation for filing, will get you to the clinic in the minimal amount of time. All of these capabilities are performed at one location.
