Trauma Pod
- Funded by DARPA and TATRC to develop the next generation of mobile robotic surgery platforms for the military
- Objective is to develop a system capable of performing life-saving procedures in the field when access to medical personnel and facilities is not possible
- Collaborators include University of Texas, General Dynamics Robotic Systems, Oak Ridge National Labs, University of Washington, Intuitive Surgical, Robotic Surgical Technologies, Integrated Medical Systems, GE Research, Multidimensional Imaging
- Current system capabilities include the following:
- Demonstrated basic surgical procedures
- Delivery of supplies and tools prompted by verbal command from surgeon
- Tracking supplies and tools
- Tracking events during surgery, updating medical records and supply management system
- Advanced multimodal interface allowing surgeon to control of all system functions without cognitive overload
- System fits in ISO container
