New Collaborative Aims to Accelerate Medical Device Development
SRI and Stanford University School of Medicine have established MISTRAL, the Multidisciplinary Initiative for Surgical Technology Research Advanced Laboratory Collaborative, to accelerate innovation of medical devices. A key objective is transformation of innovative ideas into quality, cost-effective products for several key areas, including pediatrics, trauma care, telemedicine, and endoscopy.

Vibration Imaging System Licensed to Sensors Inc.
A camera that "sees" noise and vibrations is the core component of SRI's vibration imaging technology recently licensed to Sensors Inc., a developer of portable emissions measurement systems.
Sensors Inc. will use this technology in new systems for the automotive and aerospace/

Gulf Oil Disaster Calls for Better Deep Sea Robotics

“Gliders” – small, autonomous robots – are operating in the Gulf of Mexico alongside large industrial robots used by BP in its efforts to control the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The gliders gather data for oceanographers to help predict where spilled oil will spread. According to Larry Langebrake, Director of SRI's Marine Technology Program, "There is a need for better robotics in these deep sea waters."
